The Freight House and railcar will continue to be open from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays through December 16-17, thanks to volunteer shopkeepers Greg Carpenter, Cynthia Mork, Mike Shaw, Larry Walker, and Steve Wetzel. In stock are a variety of items that might make nice holiday gifts, including railroad and Bedford history books and apparel and souvenirs from the Bedford Historical Society and Bedford Minuteman Company. After December 17, the Freight House will close as usual for the season, with reopening planned for April. During the winter closure we will continue to welcome online orders.

Those who attended the FBDP annual meeting on October 28 were treated to a fine presentation by Rick Conard about rail preservation in Wayland, a former station on the Boston & Maine’s Central Massachusetts Branch, comparing and contrasting the progress there with that in Bedford. The biennial election of FBDP officers led to Bill Deen being chosen as President, Chris Urbine as Treasurer, and Keith Lavon as Clerk. All had already been serving in those roles (Bill as Acting President). The position of Vice President remains vacant.
